Wedding at the Lake

Bridal Feet

I have been touched by Dana’s wedding pictures since the first time I saw them on facebook. It was the simplicity and the smiles of her friends and family watching her getting ready, the nostalgic of the colors, the intimacy, and the millions of funny faces; what made me ask her permission to post some of them on here to share with you.

I wanted to hear from her, what was her inspiration, and style for her special day, in a lovely way she answered me this-

” I think I wanted what most girls want to feel on their wedding day – you just want to feel great! I wanted something that didn’t look run-of-the-mill or like every other wedding. Something timeless, that didn’t scream, “This wedding clearly took place in 2012.” In the beginning, I really had no idea what that would it look like. I did however know what I didn’t want it to look like. I’d never felt great about strapless dresses because frankly, I just look so flat in them! This dress stood out to me because it gave the impression of a sweatheart neck without being exactly that, and because it had sleeves …but not really. The fact that they were lace made me feel like it wasn’t too “old” a dress for me.

Selecting my shoes was probably the hardest thing to pick! I went with the Vera Wang flats with a hidden wedge because, in the end, I was going to be on my feet all day (and I was!). The wedding was also outside and the aisle I walked down was sort of a pressed dirt path, so heels would have been difficult. I loved the hint of pink that gave a shout out to the bridesmaids (they were in creams and pinks – they all chose their own dress), and the rhinestones tied my dress and headpiece all together.

Overall, I definitely had some vintage and rustic influences, but I don’t think I ever declared a definite theme I was going for. If there had been one, I think it would have taken away from the point of the event – a wedding! Once I found the big pieces of the puzzle (ie: dress, venues) and used what they already had going for them to fill in the rest of the pieces.  I hope you have enjoyed seeing Dana’s Wedding pictures, it truly was a magical day.
