Civil Ceremony Prep.

Today is all about makeup, particularly bridal makeup. Words cannot describe all the emotions of the past weekend. I am just coming back to reality after spending some days with our closest family celebrating our civil ceremony in Gibraltar.

Seeing these pictures evokes so many beautiful little moments of that morning. Our civil ceremony was at 1 pm, and I had agreed with Ella to meet at my hotel room at the Rock Hotel at 9 am, to have plenty of time to do my hair and makeup (note to myself, I need to consider 1 extra hour for this on my wedding day).

I have to admit I was surprised at myself as I didn’t feel nervous at all, which is not like me, I am usually really anxious before anything big. I remember Ella asking how I was doing and I was like: “fine” and I really was!

I think part of it was having everything planned, I had my dress ready, shoes and accessories on one of the tables, babe also had his suit ironed and ready, and also we were “allowed” to see each other, so he went to get us some coffee that morning and made sure we had everything we needed and knowing that he was “around” made me feel relaxed and supported, which was lovely.

The night before our civil ceremony I was panicking as I have made a Spotify playlist and I couldn’t get it to work, I think because I only have the free version of it, it was adding a random song in the middle, and I was no, that is not what I want! I even tried to go premium and it wouldn’t let us update. Crazy!

So babe said, okay let’s fix this: so he grabbed his phone and started buying every single one of the songs I wanted on his iTunes, I mean girls! I seriously had an epiphany and realized that is a small reason I am marrying this man. Then we both got into our hotel robes (because it was a little chilly) his brother had giving us a bottle of champagne, so we sat on the terrace of our hotel in our cozy robes, drinking champagne and listening to the now ready iTunes playlist, which was 60% Louis Armstrong and Etta James, anyways if you want to hear it is here.

Coming back to the makeup, when Ella came (with a suitcase) full of makeup I felt like a little girl in a candy store. I told her: “isn’t it unfair that you can’t have somebody doing your makeup everyday?” Lol

I wanted something natural with little touches of gold, and extra eyelashes because, why not?!

Ella knew exactly which products she would use and had everything ready when I got out of the shower, she is lovely and a great talker, so getting all dolled up was so much fun. When you have somebody to talk to and who is doing everything for you, that special day becomes even more special.

I also needed help with my dress, as it had like millions of little buttons in the back, Ella helped me get my dress on as babe was waiting for me in the hotel bar downstairs.  She stayed until the last moment and even took some photos of us.  I will do my makeup with her again a million times.

If you’re a bride to be or you’re looking for a makeup artist for a special occasion, you can visit her website  and also to see more of her work you can follow her on Instagram

If you like my makeup, I have added all the products Ella used that day on me and you can shop for them in the links below.

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend! thank you for reading!
xoxo

You look beautiful here dear! I’ve been wanting to try the Chanel foundation, Estee Lauder bronzer, and the Kielh’s avocado under eye treatment for ages. I think you’ve just about convinced me to pick them up and give them a go 🙂 The Elizabeth Arden eight hour cream is amazing! Have you tried YSL All Hours concealer? It’s my new fave and I used to be addicted to the Nars one.

Hi Isabella! thank you for your comment, Oh yes I love love that concealer! the product is fantastic but also the packaging so pretty to display in your bathroom, don;t you think! my day to day foundation is the double wear by Estee Lauder, but since this was my civil ceremony I let my make up artist surprise me with the Chanel one.
    it was a great experience!

    thank you for stopping by!

    Sardis,
